SPA CARE - Hot Tub Filters and Spa Filter CleaningSTEP BY STEP GUIDE ON FILTER CLEANING. 1. Turn spa / hot tub off (if fitted with a circulation pump), or only remove the filters when the filter cycle for your spa is not operation. 2. Thoroughly rinse out each filter element with a hose (or water wand), paying particular attention between each pleat and removing any visible debris, twigs, leaves etc. 3. Soak filters in a specific filter cleaning solution in a clean bucket, make sure the entire filter is covered. (check specific instructions for quantity of product and length of soak time) Also be sure you can soak your type of filter in the product. For example if you are using eco- pur cartridges these should not be soaked in a product, only rinsed off with water. 4. After soaking rinse off again with a hose (or water wand). 5. Leave to dry in a suitable place (not outside) perhaps in a shed, garage or utility room. 6. Wait for filters to dry so they are ready to be used again* * Having a spare set of filters is highly recommended, as you won’t have to turn your spa off etc when cleaning/ waiting for the filers to dry. Also you will prolong the life of you filters by having a spare set. Other useful filter points: - Even if you clean your filters on a regular basis they still do have a life span. We recommend you purchase a new set of filters on an annual basis to get the most out of them. Keeping a cartridge for too long will result in it becoming ineffective, which could lead to problems with your water quality. - Never use a brush to clean your filters, it may cause the surface to break down, therefore effectively ruining the filter. Also hot tub filters should not be put in the dishwasher for the same reason. - Never use bleach or any other generic cleaning products to clean your filters. It will ruin them. Only use a product specifically designed to clean hot tub / spa filters. - Make sure you get the correct filter for your particular spa model. It is important that it fits correctly or it will not perform its job. Replacement cartridges will depend on brand of the filter, diameter and the type and size of the ends. - Avoid cheaper copycat filters. Quite often these will not have the same filtration levels and will only last a fraction of the time.
